Concreting train Railway works in concrete

Bonciani S.p.A. has one concreting train making it possible to do all types of railway works in concrete such as foundation blocks for masts and overhead structures.

This machine is a completely automatic concreting plant mounted on connected railway cars.

The machine consists of the following units:

  • 5 hopper wagons for storage of inert materials each of 15 cubic metres capacity. The hopper wagons are connected by conveyor belts that transport the inert material to the mixing unit.

  • 1 water storage wagon of capacity 9000 litres, which is also fitted with a generator to power the lighting system.

  • 1 horizontal silo wagon for the storage of cement of capacity 26 cubic metres complete with screw conveyor to extract the cement; this screw conveyor is connected to a second screw conveyor positioned horizontally to transport the cement to the mixing unit.

  • 1 wagon which is the main component of the machine, the mixing unit. This unit consists of a planetary mixer in which the concrete is made and a chute which can be controlled by the operator for pouring the concrete. This wagon also has a control cabin for the personnel assigned to the movement of the train and the regulation of all the operating functions of the concreting system.

  • 2 railway locomotives located with “top and tail” configuration. These locomotives move the entire train along the railway section. When the concreting machine is in use the two locomotives are controlled remotely from the control cabin described above.

The concrete producing capacity is 45 cubic metres per hour.

The total capacity for concrete pouring is variable and depends on the number of inert material hopper cars used.
